He's so fine...

.....and it's his birthday today; the big #8 for Sether so I'm here for his baptism and to help him celebrate.
It's been a joy to be able to get to some of the kids ball games. I was in town for a basketball game or two and Seth is good at whatever he tries and he tries hard at whatever he does. He's especially good at saving money. I don't think he learned that from his mom.
I always love spending time with the kids when I can and give them great big hugs. This kid is especially huggable. Happy Birthday, Seth. Speaking of love, I love coming to town and I especially loved being greeted by my daffodils last night.....
I was afraid they would be gone. They were here by Feb. 5th last year and gone by this time but they waited for me so I'll enjoy them all week long....then head back to catch them in Northern California at Daffodil Hill.....(click HERE...) Love those daffodils...pretty much one of my favorite flowers.
Can't wait to see this...............

We did celebrate...

....Lucy's birthday at Bubba Gumps. She got the full treatment, the chocolate Sundae which she divoured single handedly and the birthday song from the staff, and a cute little kid's meal in a boat. This kid loves her food...... (check out Lauri's blog for more on Lucy. Click HERE...)
...and so do we. Wonderful food at Bubba's then on to Ghiradelli Square for more fun...
Like I've said before, the Strawberry Shortcake from Bubba Gump's is to absolutely die for but hot fundge sundaes at the Square brought us back to life after we made the walk from Pier 39. It wasn't all about eating (but mostly was)....we enjoyed the sights and sounds of San Francisco.....
The girls were awesome...Molly especially loved being in her Snugli....
She's asleep.....now she's awake. This truly was adorable beyond words. Sunday afternoon, we took a ride up to Coloma and enjoyed the wonderful Spring weather.
I've loved having Lauri and James here for a visit. I think today we'll just relax a little, stay out of the car and find a park or two.

There are signs everywhere.....

....that spring is in the air so I decided it's time to put some spring in my house.
I'm lovin' the birds coming by each day for a bite to eat and to check on me....and there's never anything quite like the popcorn poppin' to help us take a deep breath and enjoy the miracles of new growth.
....and the pool is ready. We've been going out each night but I'm anxious for warmer days and the sun on my face.
Now I've got to head home and see my daffodils. Hope they wait for me.

Got my fix....

...my Disneyland fix for the year and it was pretty much on a whim. Randy had a few down days at work so we headed out and had a grand "spur-of-the-moment" Valentine's Day Vacay.....
The days were beautiful and warm (nights a bit cool), the lines were short and we got on "Cars"....the ride. It's difficult and you have to act fast but we did it and it was fun....a few pics from our adventure.
The Billies were in mighty fine form and I got to hang out with them before the show....so fun.
Randy always introduces me to something new. We saw Asimo (click HERE for more info)...at Innovations (across from Space Mountain). It's a fun little exhibit that I've passed up for years 'cause I didn't know what it was. It's like a little interactive science museum and a show about Asimo. Loved it.
...and last but certainly not least, one of my favorite parts of going to Disneyland is the people that I meet there and I always meet someone. This time we were in line with a woman and her daughter from Australia and had a good hour to visit and exchange stories. We ended up spending the morning with them and showing them around. Christina and Angelique....very delightful new friends and I hope we can stay in touch.
Good food, good company and good fun made for a fun Valentine's Day vacation. Still the happiest place on earth for me....more good memories.

In the leafy tree tops....

...the birds sing good morning....
...they're first to see the sun...they must tell everyone...
..and that's exactly what I felt like they were doing the other morning as I tried to capture them flying in and out of the tree outside my window.....and I looked up in the sky.....
...and I saw this.
Today we hiked to one of my favorite spots down by the American River.........and stopped to see some women demonstrating their spinning skills at Coloma....
...and drooled over some hand-dyed yarn.
That's pretty much it today, just out enjoying a little nature on a beautiful day. Hope you had a good one.

Just pure laziness on my part....

....as I've neglected this blog for a while and it's not due to the lack of things of which to blog 'cause life is full of "blogworthy moments" and if it's not, then one must get out there and make some. Last week, we ventured up to one of my favorites places, the little hamlet of Placerville which houses my all-time favorite yarn shop, "Lofty Lou's" and my new favorite restaurant "Sweetie Pies". After lunch and a browse through the shelves of yarn, we found a quaint little grave-yard and enjoyed walking around a bit....
...and actually, I think it would be wrong to call it a grave-yard as I have recently learned that the difference between a cemetery and a grave-yard is the latter is usually connected to a building of worship. So, the Old Uppertown Cemetery gave us plenty to contemplate. Not much up-keep goes on here but it was an interesting find at the end of the stairs. Then on over to "Gold Bug Mine"....
...where we just walked around a bit, snapped a few pictures and listened to the frogs croak.
We're finding some mighty fine picnic spots when the spring weather comes....which isn't too far away. I think I'm gonna miss my daffodils this year. Here they are in January already pushing out of the ground.
Speaking of perseverance......Josephine finished the tablecloth I got for her to work on. She is so amazing as she can sew on these projects for hours on end. This one is most beautiful and I will cherish it forever. Such fine detail here and teeny tiny little stitches.
A month gone already in this new year and it's been a good one. The weather is getting warmer.  Looking forward to exploring new horizons in the months to come. A trip to Daffodil Hill is certainly on my agenda. Nothin' but sunny days ahead...(maybe a little rain on Thursday but we need it).
